European innovation in motion
We were pleased to welcome Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva and her team to XISTA and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria. The visit underlined a simple idea. People go where they find opportunity and they stay where they enjoy living. Preserving our European way of life and shared values while offering the best possible opportunities for global talent is central to our mission.
Commissioner Zaharieva leads the European agenda for startups, innovation and research with clarity and resolve. Her recent work on the Scaleup Europe Fund shows what Europe can achieve when public institutions and private partners act together.
For XISTA the link between research, infrastructure and investment is real and active. ISTA shows what becomes possible when excellent science meets the right conditions. XISTA plays its part by turning research into companies and by supporting European talent through the European Innovation Council trusted investors network. The XISTA Science Park has also benefited from European funding which strengthens our local innovation infrastructure and connects it to the broader European research community.
Commissioner Zaharieva emphasised that Europe already has exceptional talent. With the upcoming ERA Act, FP10 and the Choose Europe for Science initiative, Europe aims to make it easier for researchers to move, collaborate and grow across the continent.
The visit confirmed that Europe can lead in science and innovation if it provides talent with the right environment. It also showed how closely XISTA and ISTA work with our European partners to make this vision real.
