XISTA x BII Collaboration: Human & Planetary Health Innovation
XISTA Science Ventures and the BioInnovation Institute (BII) in Copenhagen are excited to offer a new collaboration, offering deep-tech startups a €500,000 investment from XISTA Science Ventures, access to the XISTA innovation ecosystem and participation in BII’s Venture Lab program.
This initiative bridges the two leading innovation hubs in Denmark and Austria, combining the deep expertise of XISTA and BII in empowering research-driven companies toward investment and scale, with the goal to prepare high-potential startups for follow-on investment and scale-up.
The Offer
Companies that successfully complete the rigorous selection process for the BII Venture Lab in collaboration with XISTA will receive the following core benefits:
€500,000 SAFE Investment from XISTA Science Ventures
Selected companies will receive a €500,000 investment from XISTA Science Ventures, the XISTA ecosystem’s early-stage life-science and deep tech investor specializing in science-driven startups.
The BII Venture Lab Program
Besides the investment from XISTA Science Ventures, the Selected teams will have access to knowledge, infrastructure and network through the BII Venture Lab program, to address early-stage technical and commercial risks, develop resilience, leadership capacity all with the aim to bring new solutions and products to market.
Access to the XISTA innovation ecosystem
In addition to program participation, startups will gain access to the XISTA Science Park located at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg Austria. This unique location provides a gateway to an ecosystem including:
- High-Tech Facilities: Access to facilities and a vibrant community anchored at ISTA.
- Ecosystem Peers: The XISTA Science Park is home to other successful startups like Solgate and Graph Therapeutics.
- ISTA Campus: Access to the exciting events hosted at the ISTA Campus.
With this collaboration, XISTA and BII will empower science-founders in their journey from academia to spin-out. Companies selected for the cohort starting in autumn 2026 will be tentatively announced in September 2026.
